Midland Texas – The Midland Police Department is looking for new officers!  There will be an open recruiting event Saturday morning at the police training grounds.  Potential candidates will be tested with a physical and written examination for the upcoming August Academy.

Office Dylan Hale says, “I’m optimistic for the turn out because we’ve received a lot of interest these past couple days,” with MPD’s recruiting division.  Hale said he expects the department could need about a dozen officers by the time the next academy session begins.

Potential candidates will be expected to complete 30 sit ups, 25 push ups, run 1.5 miles in 14 minutes, 46 seconds and complete a written test.  Would-be recruits are also urged to check with the city’s website to ensure they meet the standard requirements for all police officers: No felonies, a good driving record, required amount of schooling and no history of criminal conduct. To view an entire list of requirements, go to www.midlandtexas.gov or call the recruiting office at 685-7141.

Recruitment tests will begin January 22nd at 11 a.m. at the Midland Police Department Training Facility located at 4214 FM 307.   What a way to serve your community!
