Last month’s hail storm caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damages, according to a Reporter-Telegram article, and local roofers have been absolutely overwhelmed with work. Raintree Roofing told the paper that they normally complete two roofs a month. But they are busier than they’ve been in ten years thanks to the storm. The company estimates that they will make about five million dollars in 2019 due to storm damage repairs and roof replacements. Meanwhile, Roofs by Nicholas found the company working on around 400 estimates and getting hundreds more calls. One warning the professionals are giving is to check with the Better Business Bureau when choosing a roofer.
Busy Roofers Warn Of Scammers
In disaster and emergency situations like this, areas get an influx of roofing scammers. They take your deposit and then they skip town. So, be mindful to make sure you are hiring a legitimate roofing company for your repairs or roofing replacements.
You might notice that there are signs all over Midland for roofing replacements and repairs. These are companies that aren’t local and may or may not even be legitimate companies. You must check into your company if you aren’t choosing a known local roofer.
Hail Damage & Insurance
If you were hit by hail, you should check your insurance, even if you don’t think there was any damage. Hail has this way of not showing the effects of its damage until later. Regardless, most insurance companies require that you file a claim within one year of when the damage was done. So, even if you don’t think your roof was damaged, it’s important to keep a close eye on it. Not all hail damage is readily apparent immediately. If you even notice a couple of damaged shingles, it’s worth calling a reputable roofer to check it out. With hailstorms, visible damage ultimately means more damage and increasing damage too.
