If you’re about to move school districts, keep in mind that you will need an official birth certificate to register children for school in a new district. Of course, moves tend to displace items and sometimes vital records like birth certificates get lost. Luckily, you can order a new birth certificate from the Texas Office of Vital Records. Birth records are considered confidential. So, you’ll need to prove who you are. You will need a valid ID to get a new birth certificate for your child. See, these vital records are only available to legal representatives, immediate family, or the person named on the record.
Order New Birth Certificate In Texas Online
If you order a new birth certificate online or by phone, keep in mind it can take up to 15 days to process the order. Then, of course, you have to factor in shipping. To be safe, please order the records you need a month in advance. For online orders, overnight and next-day delivery isn’t an option. To order a birth certificate, follow go to the Texas Office of Vital Records’ ordering webpage.
You can also go in person to the place where your documents are locally held and get the documents in person. Two types of birth certificates are available: Long/Baby Form and Security Size. The Security Size has less personal information. Many suggest this for normal business like employment, school registration, and driver’s license needs.
If you’re relocating from out of state, here’s a helpful webpage to make your search easier.
