The Midland Police Department warned Midland residents about a warrant scam going on throughout the city right now. They say that people have been getting phone calls saying that there is an outstanding warrant out for your arrest and that they need you to send them money.

The Midland Police Dpeartment commented the following on Facebook:

“MPD is aware of a Warrant Scam going around. Callers use your name and state that you have an outstanding warrant and need to send $$. MPD will NEVER call you about a warrant and ask for payment. Don’t give these crooks your information or money!”

The same thing happened last year too and the Midland Police Department warned Midland residents at that time as well. This is a common scam. Last year, it involved a scammer calling and stating that you didn’t show up for jury duty and that you will have to pay to avoid being arrested.

The Midland Police Department said that if you’re ever unsure about a call, you can call the MPD at 432-685-7108 or MCSO at 432-688-4600. Still, they will never call you and ask for payment over the phone. So, rest assured, if you get a call like this, it’s a scam.
