Holiday Traditions Make a House a Home

When making your house a home, holiday traditions are a must! Each family has their own and every family member has ONE that makes them know the warmth of HOME. One of our family’s most important tradition is Nana’s Blueberry Pie! It’s so strange that a Blueberry Pie can represent so much, and mean so much to so many. Her pies arrive in the same 1950’s style, orange and clear pie holder that we all know GOES BACK TO NANA!

It’s Time to carry on the Tradition

A few years ago when Nana was not feeling up to the task, I figured it was time to step up and make this pie! I called Nana, just knowing that she had to make a trip to the  family vault and expected to be prepared to under go a massive pie making experience. Nana gives me a soft laugh and informs me that after all these years it’s the recipe on the back of the Dream Whip Box.   See this tradition of Blueberry pie is really not a bout a pie at all.  This pie represents HOME and tradition! It represents a place where you always feel unconditional love, a presence of God, and a warm place to kick your shoes off and let time stand still. Every year we kindly fight over who gets the first bite, who gets the last bite, and how full we are but need just one more piece of that pie. When Nana started making this pie, she never knew how important it would become. and how it makes each family members house a home for generations to come.
