Robert E. Lee High School is a public secondary school in Midland, Texas. Lee High School is a part of the Midland Independent School District.  It was first built in 1961 and was originally a multi-million dollar facility.  It was built to accommodate around 2200 students even though less than 2000 students attended at that time.  The building originally housed freshmen through seniors.  Freshmen were later moved to their own campus, Lee Freshman. Many notable alumni came from Midland Lee, such as Laura Bush, Tommy Lee Jones, Cedric Benson, and General Tommy Franks.

Lee High School is best known for being a football dynasty throughout the mid 1990s to 2000.  The Rebels were the first school to ever win three 5A state football championships in a row.  They had an amazing three year record of 43-3 with Coach John Parchman and tailback Cedric Benson, who is now playing for the Chicago Bears.  Lee battles it out every year with rivals Odessa Permian and Midland High for the district title.

The Mighty Rebel Band is a product of hard work, passion and tradition.  They were chosen as the 2007 Texas Bandmaster’s Exemplary Band Program.  The Mighty Rebel Band is under the direction of Randy Storie, Daniel Balkema, and Brian Paterson.
